Cookie policy

This is a translation provided for convenience; the Italian version prevails in case of discrepancies.
What we use
Jemo uses only technical cookies, which are needed to sign you in and keep your session. We do not use profiling or advertising cookies, nor third-party tools that track you. We only collect anonymous, aggregated statistics, directly and without cookies. This is why we do not ask for your consent: for technical cookies and the analytics tools equivalent to them, the law only requires us to inform you (art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code and the Italian Data Protection Authority's (Garante) Guidelines of 10 June 2021).
In production the names have the __Secure- prefix, because the cookies travel only over HTTPS connections.
Technical cookies
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in to your account after you log in | 60 days, renewed when you use the site |
| better-auth.session_data | Signed copy of the session, avoids querying the database on every page | 5 minutes |
| better-auth.state, better-auth.pk_code_verifier | Protects sign-in with Google, Apple or Strava (only while signing in) | A few minutes |
| jemo_lang | Remembers the site language (Italian or English) you chose or browsed in | 1 year |
The session cookies are set only if you sign in to your account; without signing in we store only the site language.
Browser local storage
The site stores in your browser some technical data that is not sent to us: whether you dismissed the cookie notice and the light or dark theme you chose (localStorage) and, through the service worker, a copy of the pages and maps you have already viewed so that they also work offline or with a poor connection.
Anonymous statistics
To know how many people visit the site and which races interest them most, the site sends a signal to our servers (not to third parties) when you open a page, every 30 seconds while the tab is in the foreground (to measure how long the visit lasts) and when you click buttons such as "Register", "Official website", "Rules", "Share" or the GPX download.
- We record: the page (without the address parameters), the type of action, the type of device (smartphone, tablet or computer), the domain of the site you come from and whether you are signed in (yes or no).
- We do not record your IP address or your account. To count unique visitors we use a code computed from the IP and browser type with a secret key that changes every day: it does not allow us to identify you or to recognize you on the following days.
- In the browser we only store a random visit identifier in
sessionStorage(jemo.visit), which is deleted automatically when you close the tab. It is not a cookie and is not read by other sites. - The data is used only in aggregated form (totals and averages), also to show organizers how many people look at their races. We keep it for 13 months.
- If the browser sends the "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal, we send no statistics at all.
External services
The maps are downloaded from OpenFreeMap's servers, which do not set cookies but receive your IP address, like any site you visit. If you choose to sign in with Google, Apple or Strava, you are taken to their site, which uses its own cookies under its own privacy policies.
How to manage them
You can delete or block cookies from your browser settings. If you block technical cookies you will not be able to sign in to your account, but race search will keep working. For questions write to privacy@dojemo.com. More details on data processing in the privacy policy.
